Research on the thermo-processing of stainless steel

Heat treatment changes the microstructure of the steel. It affects the content of ferrite and austenite in the material, and thus the mechanical and thermophysical properties of the final product. Depending on the applied heat treatment, a material with specific, assumed properties can be obtained.

The results of the conducted research on the commercial 1.4462 DSS steel were presented in the article "The influence of microstructure on the thermophysical properties of heat-treated duplex steel", which was published on October 13 in the journal Materials. It shows the influence of thermal cycles on structural changes as well as mechanical and thermophysical properties of commercial 1.4462 DSS steel.
