Rector-Commandant, Brig. Gen. Pilot Krzysztof Cur, PhD, together with Mr Jakub Mykowski, head of the Department of Military Education in the Ministry of National Defence and Polish Air Force University’s delegation went to the United States of America from the 5th to the 12th of October. The delegation visited the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and National Defence University in Washington.

The aim of the visit at USAFA was to get to  know the system of education and cadet training in the American Air Force, its training base and facilities, and to discuss bilateral cooperation between PAFU and USAFA, which is based on the international exchange of cadets. During the visit, our delegates took part in the meeting chaired by Lt Gen. Richard M. Clark – USAFA Superintendent, with the presence of USAFA Commandant  Brig. Gen. Paul Moga and Brig. Gen. Linell Letendre – Dean of the Faculty. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the development of the exchange programme and possible future cooperation. 

Polish delegation was also took part in Cadet’s International Day combined with USAFA cadets training, sports activities and overflight of F-35 aircraft, they also visited 306th Flying Training Group Base with Parachuting and Gliding Center, Center for Character and Leadership Development, USAFA’s sports facilities – Athletic Department and Air Force Preparatory School, Aeronautics Laboratory, Cybernetic Security Center and Library. The whole visit was accompanied by two Polish cadets who are currently in 3rd year at USAFA – Senior Corporal Jakub Miszczak and Senior Corporal Dominik Ośliźniok and two 4th year USAFA cadets of Polish origin: Michael Kaminski and Victoria Lambos. They shared lots of stories about their time at the Academy. The whole group went sightseeing to the Garden of Gods and the historic part of Colorado Springs.

The second part of the visit was focused on National Defence University (NDU) in Washington, where the University’s head – Brig. Gen. Michael T. Plehn showed their Polish guests the structure of the University, explained the process of education and organisation of the Student Management Office, especially the  department which is connected with international cooperation. What is more, during the visit in Washington, PAFU delegation visited the Polish Embassy in Washington and met with Polish Ambassador Piotr Wilczek, who discussed the possibilities of supporting our University with its cooperation with USAFA. The discussion involved Polish-American cooperation in connection with the purchase of F-35 aircrafts.

At the end of the visit in Washington, Rector-Commandant met with the Military Attaché in Washington, Brig. Gen. Krzysztof Nolbert and the Polish delegation were also given a tour around Washington. They visited the National Mall, Capitol and the Washington Monument.
